The Start of My Journey to Uganda

Many of you may be wondering why on earth I would leave my life in Chicago to move to a third world country..... The simple answer is I feel God's call to go. I'll let you choose below if you would like the cliff notes version or the long version.

Cliff Notes:
I am working with Africa Inland Mission (www.aimint.org) and will be working with children with special needs. My primary focus will be at the Kireka School for individuals with special needs doing physical therapy and building relationships with those I'm working with. I will be in Kireka, Uganda just north of Uganda's capitol Kampala. I will leave Sept 16th and return Sept 5th, 2013.

The red dot is approximately where Kireka is located

Longer Version :)
I travelled to South Africa 4 years ago and shadowed physical therapists at a government hospital. While I was there I discovered the difference in the quality of health care received by the poor in Africa compared to the poor in the United States. Also, in words I cannot describe I fell in love with the people there. I decided that if it was God's will for me to go back to Africa after physical therapy school I would. And here I am. I will be working with children with special needs at the Kireka school for individuals with disabilities in Kireka, Uganda. I will primarily be placed there doing physical therapy and building relationships with those around me. I leave Sept 16 th 2012 and will return Sept 5th 2013.
